Design thinking is a pragmatics, a set of algorithms, tried and tested tactics for observing, listening, engaging with people, interpreting and analyzing their circumstances, then iteratively and adaptively offering interventions in those circumstances so as to effect improvement.
For me, making is rarely a tidy experience…My personal motto remains: whenever possible, all projects should include yarn, dirt or raw meat.
Most scholars agree that is is very difficult to improve the skills of the design practice by teaching theory. On the other hand there is a need for a theoretical understanding of design. We need to discuss it, to manage it, and to develop it and theory is a good vehicle for this purpose.
We can collectively effect the world through design. We need to pick up where steve jobs left off
In the end, you need to master your craft, get over it, then focus on the people.
